Burning Man, a festival of sand and fire in Nevada
IN PICTURES - The event, held in the desert last week of August and attracts over 70,000 artists each year. This event combines music, performance art and street theater to the tunes hippies and ends with the burning of giant mannequins.
The Nevada desert was once again invaded by thousands of people each more eccentric than others. Burning Man, more hippie festival, which takes place the last week of August, just ended. In all, that's 70,000 people who walk the floor of the Playa, dry lake name which hosts the festivities.
Established in 1986, Burning Man is a festival or the number of creations is the highest. Disguised and daubed, residents of Black Rock City (name of the city during the week) come from all over the world: Europe, Asia ... Despite a $ 380 ticket, the number of visitors continues to s increase over the years. Since its first edition, the tradition is that the main work, representing one or more men or burned last night. This year, Matt Schultz had the honor of seeing his sculpture 22 meters, Embrace, die in a fiery mountain.
The "burners" are a few slogans to follow: Caring, sharing and giving. Be aware give without expecting something in return. Another principle of the festival is decommodification. The organizers do not want to be victims of their success and see advertising appear during this week. So for those tempted by the adventure Burning Man one year left to make an original costume and daub the body.
